Brunswick states that their playfield is made with North American Maple wood with 1/4 Polymer resin surface. So if the product is contract manufacturing in Asia then this means that wood had to be transported thousands of miles to the other side of the planet. This is all done in order to take advantage of low labor cost when manufacturing the finished product which is distributed through a multi-tier marketing network.
In other words, money not put into the craftsmen who build the product or the raw materials. Instead, the money is used to develop a good brand story like the “Genuine American Brand” and you get marketing fluff like below…

The Brunswick Shuffleboard tables are sold through a dealer network that can include both small mom-and-pop retailers as well as large chain and eCommerce retailers like Amazon, Costco, Wall Mart, Pottery Barn or Restoration Hardware. What ends up happening is that you different middle-men who offer tables that are manufactured using contract manufactures marketed under the Brunswick Name. The cost is eventually passed on the the consumer.
You can also purchase directly from Brunswicks website but many times you’ll receive your table from a local distributor or reseller who carries the item you selected.

We use hard maple on all our construction, not just for the play boards but for the cabinets and legs as well. The wood is grown, harvested, and kiln-dried within 3 counties whose borders touch. Therefore the environmental impact of transporting raw materials to the craftsmen who will build the product is minimal. The raw materials, labor, and other resources available to create shuffleboard tables are all in our woodshop; only finished products leave.
