Though a little less known Kush Shuffleboard location is in Chattanooga, Tennessee and they have been making shuffleboard tables for a few years. They do not know a lot about the game of shuffleboard but tend to have some creative, unique designs.
Kush Standard Playboard construction :
The main ingredient needed for the best shuffleboard play surface is North American Hard Maple the trees grow in the Eastern United States. Kush Shuffleboards use as standard a 2.25″ thick playboard made of Ambrosia Maple maple with the bar Top epoxy finish. So the net wood is probably a 2″ thick play-board with 1/4 inch of the plastic epoxy.
They do offer an 800 upgrade with an actual hard maple butcher block top with a polymer finish. We highly recommend if you choose to purchase a Kush Shuffleboard you make this choice. We can not testify to the quality and can tell from the image on their web site they have no equipment required to make the shuffleboard butcher block. So typical of virtually all shuffleboard companies they are really a cabinet maker

This is where the rubber meets the road, and though they have some nice designs, they know nothing about Shuffleboards. Since 1940’s shuffleboards are measured not by the play-board length but the cabinet. Most their styles come in 9′ 12′, 14′, 16′ play-board lengths. They even offer a 22-foot size play-board in a 22-foot size that standard feature is only 2.25″ thick.
When we restore antique tables that are beyond the tolerance acceptable for a restore and why traditional boards were made 3 inches thick so they could be sanded and resurfaced over the years. We have seen antique 22-foot models with board thickness as low as 2.5″ meaning they have been refinished several times, but this is the minimum thickness.
