Set up a Family Knock-off Tournament This Thanksgiving

 In Shuffleboard Rules

If you’re hosting Thanksgiving this year, you understand all of the headaches involved with setting up for the holiday, especially if you have a big family. Between cooking enough food to making sure the house is presentable, you’ll have your hands full on the big day.

One thing you won’t have to take care of this Thanksgiving is keeping everybody entertained if you have a shuffleboard table. In many parts of the country it’s going to be too cold or rainy to go outside and toss around the pigskin, so herd the whole clan into the gameroom and organize a fun tournament. Doing this will keep everyone happy while making sure no one is in your hair while you prep the big meal.

A good game that anyone in the family can play is knock-off, since the rules are relatively simple and you don’t need a lot of experience to quickly develop skill. Pair off members of your family into teams of two and organize a tournament roster like you would for your football pool. Essentially, for larger families, have two different leagues competing against each other until there is one team left from each league that will compete in a shuffleboard “Super Bowl” at the end of the tournament.

Betting on certain teams is totally fine as long as you keep the amounts low enough that everyone, even younger kids with only a few dollars to their name, will be able to get in on the action.

Unlike football, shuffleboard can be a Thanksgiving tradition that anyone can enjoy, whether they are 10 years old or a grandparent. Good luck getting everyone to come to the table for dinner once this addicting tournament gets started.
