Play like Bond in Your Casino-Themed Game Room
At last night’s Oscar telecast, organizers of the ceremony paid tribute to 50 years of 007 by putting together a video montage and inviting legendary singer Shirley Bassey onstage to perform her hit single “Goldfinger” from the film of the same title. That wasn’t all, however, as the Academy even awarded singer Adele for her work writing the theme song to the latest James Bond adventure, “Skyfall.”
Between the nostalgia of the old Bond films to the impressive effects of the latest outings, those watching the telecast surely felt pangs of envy, wishing that they could live the life of luxury, action and adventure that 007 has experienced on film for the past half century. While you may not have a license to kill, that doesn’t mean that you too can’t enjoy a bit of the bond lifestyle in your own home.
Turn your game room into a Monte Carlo styled casino – on a smaller scale of course – like the kinds seen in the original Bond films. Instead of a roulette table, use one of the Mediterranean inspired Veneto shuffleboard tables sold at McClure Tables as the centerpiece of your space. You’ll surely get more use out of this piece of equipment than you would playing roulette, as shuffleboard is a game the whole family can enjoy.
From there, implement the red carpeting used on most casino floors and use dark walls to set the serious, formal tone that is signature of the latest films in the franchise. To top it all off, make sure that you have a mini bar fully stocked with all the ingredients for a dry martini – shaken, not stirred.
